About us

The choir is affiliated to Making Music (formerly The National Federation of Music Societies) and is a member of Bromsgrove Arts Alive.

Members of the choir have taken part in many special events, some organised by Making Music West Midlands, for example performances for massed choirs of the Verdi Requiem and Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, and various choral workshops in Bromsgrove and other local towns. Choir members have sung in performances of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, and a recording for the BBC Songs of Praise at All Saints Church Evesham. Recently some of us joined in a performance of Haydn’s Nelson Mass with The Orchestra of St John’s at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove.

We also hold fundraising events such as bring & buy sales, quizzes, a weekly raffle and an annual dinner in the summer months. Several successful Singing Workshop run by Luise Horrocks and open to all singers have been held. In June  2015 the Society ran a workshop singing day under the direction of David Lawrence. And in June this year we held a second come and sing workshop with Paul Brough.

The choir is under the musical direction of John Brierley.

At present we perform two concerts a year, one in the spring and one at Christmas. We sing a wide selection of choral music, some of the great choral works and some not so well known to challenge us.

Most of our concerts are accompanied by organ or piano.
